The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the most track-capable Corvette ever built, made its first European appearance at the Geneva Motor Show, about two months after being officially unveiled in Detroit.
Scheduled to arrive in US dealerships in early 2015 - European availability is not yet known - the 2015 Corvette Z06 hides a 6.2-liter V8 and a 1.7-liter Easton supercharger under the hood. The mill will deliver “at least” 625 horsepower and 635 pound-feet of torque. Power will be sent to the rear wheels via either a seven-speed manual transmission (standard) or an eight-speed automatic gearbox (optional).
Chevy is also preparing a Z07 package for its brand new supercar, which will include carbon ceramic brakes, Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup tires, an adjustable see-through center section for the rear wing and “aviation-style” winglets for the front splitter.
Besides the Corvette Z06, Chevrolet also brought the brand new 2014 Corvette C7.R race car to Geneva. Developed alongside the former, the C7.R has made its track debut at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and will return to Europe this summer for the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
Powering the C7.R is a naturally-aspirated 5.5-liter V8 engine based on the historic Chevrolet small block architecture. Performance figures aren’t available, but horsepower should be north of 460.
