The new GT2 RS is the most powerful production car in Porsche’s long and storied history and, as such, it smokes the standard GT2 - and every other Porsche model in history, for that matter - out of the water. Porsche managed to reduce the weight by 154 lbs and upgrade the engine’s output with 90 horsepower (for a total of 620 horsepower). This makes the RS sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds, 0 to 124 mph in just 9.8 seconds, and 0 to 186 mph in 28.9 seconds. Top speed is 205 mph. The sports car also delivers a power-to-weight ratio of
4.9 lb per horsepower (ZR1 power to weight ratio:
5.25 lb/hp )
The GT2 RS clocked a record-breaking time of 7 minutes and 18 seconds around the Nürburgring-Nordschleife track (
claimed by Porsche), one of the fastest times in modern production car history.[6] However, this was performed on the shorter Nurburgring course,
which is 232 meters shorter. Given an average speed of 100MPH (160 km/h), this yields an addition 5.7 seconds, with a more typical allowance of 7 seconds.
This would result in a range of 7:23-7:25, which is comparable to the 7:24 turned in by Horst von Saurma.
