Q: If there were such a resurgence, could it be contained?A: Yes, but it can’t happen based on human contact-tracing alone. We now have evidence that almost half of infection events happen before the person passing on the infection develops symptoms – and people are infectious starting two days prior to that. That means that human contact-tracers working with patients to identify those they’ve been exposed to are in a race against time. They need help to catch all those potentially exposed as quickly as possible – and that will require electronic contact-tracing.

Pre-symptomatic transmissionThe incubation period for COVID-19, which is the time between exposure to the virus (becoming infected) andsymptom onset, is on average 5-6 days, however can be up to 14 days. During this period, also known as the “presymptomatic” period, some infected persons can be contagious. Therefore, transmission from a pre-symptomatic casecan occur before symptom onset. In a small number of case reports and studies, pre-symptomatic transmission has been documented through contacttracing efforts and enhanced investigation of clusters of confirmed cases.12-17 This is supported by data suggesting thatsome people can test positive for COVID-19 from 1-3 days before they develop symptoms.6,16 Thus, it is possible thatpeople infected with COVID-19 could transmit the virus before significant symptoms develop. It is important torecognize that pre-symptomatic transmission still requires the virus to be spread via infectious droplets or throughtouching contaminated surfaces.Asymptomatic transmissionAn asymptomatic laboratory-confirmed case is a person infected with COVID-19 who does not develop symptoms.Asymptomatic transmission refers to transmission of the virus from a person, who does not develop symptoms. There are few reports of laboratory-confirmed cases who are truly asymptomatic, and to date, there has been nodocumented asymptomatic transmission. This does not exclude the possibility that it may occur. Asymptomatic caseshave been reported as part of contact tracing efforts in some countries.WHO regularly monitors all emerging evidence about this critical topic and will provide an update as more informationbecomes available.
Was it fears of shortages, a hesitancy to make guidance on incomplete information, or maybe even a failure to grasp the extent of the coronavirus problem? Whatever the case may be, our failure to implement face masks earlier may cost us dearly.

Некои цареви и на глава ја носат. Само ќотек како во Индија.
