Ferrari all conquering at Silverstone to take Le Mans Series title






 Maranello, 11 September – Giancarlo Fisichella and Gimmi Bruni took their 458 Italia GT2 to victory in the Silverstone 6 Hours, today at the Northamptonshire circuit. The thrilling endurance race was the fourth round of the Le Mans Series and the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and the crew took top honours in the GTE PRO category. The victory was enough to ensure that the AF Corse team and the formidable duo have been crowned series champions with one race in hand. Having started from a lowly eighth on the grid, the Italians staged an amazing climb up the order, all the way to the top step of the podium. “Today’s result is down to a great strategy from the team which made less pit stops compared to other teams in the race and the skill of the drivers, as well as the quality of the 458 Italia GT2,” said Antonello Coletta, the head of Ferrari Corse Clienti. “It is very satisfying for us to see our car secure such an important result in its debut season in these most prestigious championships. Our next challenge is the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, which also sees a Ferrari in the lead and we will have to do our utmost to repeat our excellent result from 2010.”




 Fisichella was delighted with what he and Bruni achieved after a difficult start. “The outcome of qualifying did not affect our expectations, as we knew we could do well and that’s how it worked out. The team did an exceptional job, as usual in fact, and this victory proves it,” he said after the race. The race that featured no less than seven Ferraris also ended with a good result for the Luxury Racing Ferrari, which finished second in the GTE PRO category crewed by Stephane Ortelli and Frederic Makowiecki, while third in class in the GTeam was the F430 GTC of Pierre Ehret-Shaun Lynn for CRS Racing. The next round of the Le Mans Series takes place at Portimao on 25 September and the following weekend, the Maranello cars will be tackling the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta on the American Le Mans Series calendar which also counts towards the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.

The next Enzo will benefit from the intense use of carbon fiber, making the supercar weigh around 1200 lbs. Under the hood there will be a newly developed V8 bi-turbo engine with around 700 HP mated to a double-clutch transmission with seven speeds that provides ultra-fast gear changes. It is expected to see a sprint from 0 to 60 mph made in less than 3 seconds and a top speed of 223 mph.
The new Enzo will make its world debut in the spring of 2012 and will be limited to only 399 units. Price is expected to be in the 800,000 euro area (around $1million at the current exchange rates).

Rumors about a successor for the Ferrari Enzo started a long time ago and while we’ll have to wait to get the chance to see the real car, we all can make use of this time by speculating. This timeRoad and Track comes with a new rendering of the future supercar, believed to be called the Ferrari F70.

The magazine believes that the F70 will combine elements from the FXX Mille-Chili lightweight concept, the 599XX track car, and the 458 Italia. The F70 will be a very light car with a total weight of about 2200 lbs. It will be powered by a supercharged V8 producing a maximum output of 700 HP. It will make the 0 to 60 mph sprint in less than 3 seconds, while top speed will go up to more than 230 mph. Considering the new 599 GTO has just become the fastest road-legal Ferrari ever built (with a lapping time on the Fiorano test track of 1 minute and 24 seconds), we expect the next F70 to offer us that much more. The F710 will also utilize the latest technologies in its direct-injected engine to succeed in better fuel ecomony and low emissions.

The Ferrari F70 will go on sale in 2012 and is rumored to be priced at around $1 million.

Enzo Crashes into the ocean







Respectful silence please... a tuned Ferrari has crashed into the Atlantic Ocean during a race.

Calgary-based car dealer Zahir Rana was racing a rare Ferrari Enzo in the Newfoundland Targa road race in Canada before he lost control on the gravel surface. Rana span the Edo-tuned Enzo 180 degrees before heading off into the ocean.

He and co-driver Roland Linder managed to escape from the drowned Ferrari without injury, with the car suffering light front bumper and wing damage. As well as being quite wet, obviously.

The Ferrari reportedly drifted back to shore before being lifted onto the back of a recovery vehicle.

When dry, this Edo Competition Enzo features an 840bhp V12 and is 100kg lighter than the ‘standard' Enzo. As such, it accelerates from 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds, 0-124mph in nine and hits a 240mph top speed.
