Nissan today announced the details for the 2013 model year GT-R supercar, which goes on sale in Japan on Nov. 19.

Nissan pointed out in the press release that the following press information has been released by Nissan Motor Company Ltd. with images showing the 2013 model year Japanese market GT-R. Specifications of the U.S. market 2014 model year GT-R will be announced at a later date.
For the Japanese market, the 2013 Nissan GT-R gets increased performance, improved ride and handling, and greater customization.
We’ll have details on the 2014 Nissan GT-R for the U.S. market later in the date.

2013 MY NISSAN GT-R Overview
 1. Mechanical Features
Engine
Sharper mid-range engine response and improved high-end acceleration.
The incorporation of high-output injectors that more precisely control fuel injection improve mid-range engine response and acceleration at higher rpms.
Specially-developed orifice to the relief valve have been added to the turbocharger bypass; these suppress the rapid decrease of the forced injection pressure, helping to sustain acceleration at high rpms.
By adding a specially-designed baffle plate to the oil pan, oil pressure is better stabilized while rotational friction within the oil pan is reduced, especially during high-performance driving.
Motul Competition Oil is offered as an engine oil option at Nissan dealers due to the many requests from GT-R customers who frequently drive their cars at circuit.
Chassis
Glued-to-the-ground handling and rock-solid stability at super high speeds.
After meticulously measuring the roll center of a GT-R while in motion, Nissan engineers lowered the vehicle’s center of gravity in accordance with the deflection of the suspension bushings and tires. The specifications of the shock absorbers and front stabilizer have also been modified.
Cam bolts have been installed on the front suspension to improve camber accuracy and maintainability of alignment settings.
The torque from the driveshaft to the hub bearings was increased to improve reliability in high-stress situations, such as competition (track) driving.
Body
Improved driving stability and steering response.
Reinforcements were added at two locations in the dash panel bar and instrument panel member , resulting in improved suspension performance and increased body rigidity.
2. Interior
Pure Edition
The quality level of the interior has been improved by changing the color of the stitching and adopting a thicker seam on the instrument panel and door trim.
Black Edition
An attractive red-and-black color combination steering wheel increases the car’s sporty flair.
RECARO carbon bucket seats are available as a factory installed option.
Premium Edition
A new two-tone interior color of Amber Red and Black adds style to the interior as option for fashionable interior package.
Hand-stitched genuine semi-aniline leather front seats have been added.
3. Specifications/ equipment
Carbon-fiber rear spoiler and lightweight aluminum-alloy forged RAYS® wheels are available as a factory installed option (Black Edition).
Rear View Monitor comes as standard equipment on the Black and Premium edition models.
Convenient “side knobs” on the left and right sides of both front seats improve usability when seatbacks are pushed forward (all models).

Nissan has announced the introduction of the 2013 GT-R Nismo GT3 that brings a series of updates.
The most significant improvements were made to the performance and durability of the engine, along with new suspension settings to match the revised aerodynamics package. Brake balance and aerodynamic performance have been improved as well, along with the gear ratio to optimize the engine output increase.
Speaking of output, the power of the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 has increased from 523 hp (390 kW) to 543 hp (405 kW). Torque is also up from 451 lb-ft (612 Nm) to 470 lb-ft (637 Nm). It has the same 2,866 lbs (1,300 kg) weight as the model it replaces.
Already available on order, the 2013MY costs 270,000 GBP (without taxes) in Europe (including Russia, Middle East) and 35,000,000 yen in Japan, Asia, North America, South America and Oceania.
Nissan said that an upgrade kit for the 2012 GT-R Nismo GT3 which was launched earlier this year is in the works.

2013/2014 Nissan GT-R Sets 7:18 Lap Time on Nurburgring

The 2013/2014 Nissan GT-R has set a new record lap time of 7 minutes and 18 seconds on the Nurburgring Nordschleife, more than eight seconds faster than its old 7:26:70 time of 2009. The Japanese believe that after setting the lap time, they can do even better by using a new Track Edition 2013/2014 model.
Chief Engineer Kazutoshi Mizuno said there’s “quite a bit of margin” in the car’s current time for the 20km-long Green Hell. He stated that the new Track Edition GT-R might be good for a time under seven minutes, which sounds quite surreal if you consider the difference is over 18 seconds.
The new Track Edition features a roll-cage and it lost most of the interior exposing the bare metal, but features the same engine as the regulation GT-R. The 550 horses of its engine make contact with the pavement using Dunlop slick tires, developed especially for the GT-R.



The new Nissan GT-R is the ninth-quickest street-legal vehicle in the history around the famous Nordschleife circuit. The blistering time is more than six seconds faster than that achieved by the 2011 GT-R (7:24.22) two years ago, and puts the Japanese supercar equal to the lightweight rear-wheel drive Porsche 911 GT2 RS (also 7:18).
Other cars ahead of the 2013/2014 Nissan GT-R include two Radicals (6:48 and 6:55), the Gumpert Apollo Sport (7:11.57), the Dodge Viper ACR (7:12.13), the Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition (7:14.64) and the Donkervoort D8 RS (7:18.1).
