Volkswagen Passat, Ford Focus, Hyundai Elantra finalists for 2012 North American

The Ford Focus, Hyundai Elantra and Volkswagen Passat are the finalists for the 2012 North American Car of the Year — an annual award by a group of 50 respected automotive journalists that is coveted by automotive manufacturers.

“It’s a sign of the times: The car finalists are all about value and fuel efficiency,” said Free Press auto critic Mark Phelan, who is one of the judges. “The Focus and Elantra offer lots of features at very affordable prices. VW seems to have hit the right chord with the new Passat, which they developed with more room and a lower price to appeal to buyers in America and China.”

Each car also represents a breakthrough for the respective automakers. The Focus is the first of many cars and crossovers Ford plans to introduce from a new global platform.

The Elantra is among several new models from Hyundai that have been praised by auto critics and have helped the Korean automaker gain market share. Sales of the Elantra have increased 45.5% through November, according to Autodata.

The Passat, built at Volkswagen’s new plant in Chattanooga, Tenn., is a lynchpin of the German automaker’s goal to become a larger player in the U.S.

Passat sales have increased 29.9% through November, according to Autodata.

Кога би постоеле само овие 3 возила дефинитивно изборот без никаква конкуренција ќе одпадне на Пасат.
За жал има уште катаљарда други возила кои се подобри од овие три. Понатаму, Елантра и Фокус не се во класа на Пасат.

Како и да е, гласав за Пасат како најдобар од сите три.

MIslev deka dosega site znaat, Passat B7 (ovoj na slikava) e na platforma na Golf, pa bi mozelo da se kaze deka e golf so opaska i kako takov ima opasna konkurencija od  drugite 2, posebno ako vo izborot e zemen Focus Sedan (kako sto bese posocen  na nekoi drugi sajtovi)

Малце е „без компас“ изборов за NACOTY... Лани мислам Chevrolet Volt дека го избраа, пред некоја година беше Hyundai Genesis... А изборов за 2012, меѓу Passat, Focus & Elantra ми е стварно чуден и прилично несфатлив... Може е до мене

Passat-от е на платформа на прошлиот Пасат (осим Америве ако не праеле некои глупости )... Да е на платформа на Голф, би бил Џета.

Volkswagen Passat (B6 2005)
The B6 Passat was first displayed at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2005, and launched in Europe in the summer of 2005. Unlike its predecessor, the B6 Passat no longer shared its platform with Audi's equivalent model (the Audi A4). Based on a modified version of the Mk5 Golf's PQ46 platform, the B6 featured a transverse rather than longitundinal engine layout of its predecessor.

Volkswagen Passat (B7 2010)
The B6 Passat was facelifted by Klaus Bischoff and Walter de Silva,[citation needed] and was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September 2010. Although designated "B7", the car is not an all-new model. The facelift resulted in new external body panels except for the roof and glasshouse, with the prominent changes to the grille and headlights. Overall height and width dimensions are unchanged from the B6 Passat, while length increases by 4 mm
