On 13 July 2011, Toyota announced that the Hilux would receive an upgrade, including a redesigned front end and other external styling changes, changes to the interior and a new turbocharged diesel engine capable of 106 kW (142 hp) and 343 N·m (253 lb·ft) of torque, as well as lower fuel consumption compared to the previous model.[
