The sub came with resistors that were designed to be installed in series with the positive inputs (the output from the amplifier driving it). The resistors are designed to shut off power to the speaker if the input wattage exceeds 50 watts; presumably, JVC engineers did that because the "esoteric" honeycomb driver in the CS-F300C is very sensitive to overload.
