The Power-to-weight ratio is on the same page:
8.23 vs 8.91 in favor of the Fiesta.

hmmm. I'm wrong. the stock weight to power is for the fiesta. Interesting :)
Gearbox ratio? less electronics (hate the non-100% removable antispin)? Stupid 17 inch rims on the fiesta as a stock (for most countries).

Weight. It's always the weight. Previous (than my fiesta) generation supermini sporty 1.6 are super lightweight.
Check out the Weight to power ratio. It's quite a difference.

1st stage S16s are a bit faster than me over here. Especialy the ones with stripped rear seats and everything tend to race/beat much much faster cars than the fiesta.

;)

I have no idea why, but once upon a time when I was a Ford RS driver, I realized that Fords don't go as fast as other cars. That still hasn't changed.

oh, and when I say a bit, I mean a lot ;) Induction+ECU remap+exhaust+weight stripping = scary performances.

You sold an RS? awww.

It still remains a fact. Fast Fords aren't that fast. Not very tune-able and very outdated engine-wise. However, engine performance is the last reason why I got a Fiesta ST.

What about when it comes to handling and racing on non-straight roads? Can the S16 hold its own against your ST?

BTW, have you tried nitro yet?
If not, you may want to contact our forum-member marsher. He is a dealer of SM chip-tuning where they have a way to install a cheap nitro which is safe for your engine, even if you are an idiot and try to use it while cruising. :D

A friend has installed a nitrous kit on his ST. It's ok, it did go up to around to +50,60bhp when on, and I did like the dumb-proof installation. But I'm not even considering such a tune. Disposable power is... disposable :P

Yes, the S16 can hold its own against the ST quite well. It's still the king of handling for superminis. a well set up 106 can lap 4-5++ seconds faster than me on track, easily.
The 106 remains a more hardcore little car. I'd love to drive one, frequently, but I don't know if I could live with one.

Oh, and an important thing about the zeperfs comparizon.
The stock ECU for the fiesta ST has a torque limiter for 1st and 2nd gear. 1st gear delivers almost 50% torque and 2nd gear delivers almost 75% torque. With the stock maps, putting the 3rd gear on feels like putting on a different engine. They did that to save up on clutch wearing out too fast (which is the case, tiny stupid thing for the 2L engine).
Especially those ones prepared in Greece !!!
Some insane 106s here can lap Serres Racing Circuit in 1.33.0 or such (non turbocharged).

50% torque reduction sounds a bit too harsh, its only a 150 hp engine after all?

True, but I did completely destroy my gearbox (replaced in warranty) at around 55.000km.
Using semi-slick TOYO R888s for a while was to blame, mostly, but still.
It is almost the same clutch disc size as the 1.4 and 1.6 models. With the stock clutch you could overheat it in 2 minutes if you wanted to.

The ECU map I'm currently using, waiting for the final one in a few days, only removes the limiters, has higher revs and a bit dryer Air/Fuel Ratio (stock one is hellishly rich). In numbers there shouldn't be much of a significant difference in the performance of the car, but 1st and 2nd gear have nothing to do with the stock performances.

Have you removed this limiting or not? Do you happen to know if the TDCi fiestas have a limiter, because of the big torque numbers?

Yeap. Limit is off at the moment. Completely different car from stop. I could try to check and let you know.

Hi Torm, it's nice to see the forum having a member from outside ...

Went quick thru out this thread , but I didn't see anywhere how much BHP you got right know under the hood after all the upgrades that you did on your Beast?
Also, did you manage to hit top speed, and did it decreased stability on the car, having in mind that you probably added around 50hp on your stock 150?
